Website design pricing can be confusing. Some designers charge a flat rate, others charge per page, and some bill by the hour. Understanding these pricing models helps you compare quotes fairly.

Flat rate pricing: Most common for standard business websites. The designer quotes a single price for the entire project based on scope. This works well when requirements are clear and unlikely to change significantly.

Per page pricing: Each page type — homepage, about page, service page — has a set price. This model works for content-heavy sites where the number of pages varies. Homepage design typically costs more because it sets the visual direction.

Hourly billing: Common for ongoing work or projects with uncertain scope. Rates for experienced designers range from five hundred to two thousand rupees per hour. This model requires trust and clear tracking.

What influences pricing: Designer experience level, project complexity, number of pages, required revisions, included assets (icons, fonts, images), and timeline urgency all affect pricing.

What should be included: A proper design quote includes initial concepts, revision rounds, mobile and tablet adaptations, and final asset delivery in formats suitable for development. Anything less may lead to additional costs later.

Red flags: Extremely low prices, vague scope descriptions, no portfolio, or unwillingness to provide a detailed quote are warning signs. Good designers are transparent about what you get for your money.

Remember that website design is not just about making things look pretty. Good design improves usability, builds trust, and directly impacts your conversion rates. Invest accordingly.
